1  Hand drawn pedigree by self showing 6 generations of Norfolks descended from John  Norfolk, a shoemaker, who was born in Great Glen, Leicestershire 1780.

2  Copy of Letter of Administration granted to George Norfolk by Wakefield Registry to administer the estate of his son John Norfolk who died 10th July 1871 at Menston

3  Certified copy from the Probate Registry of the will of Elizabeth Lappage Norfolk of Lexden Will dated 15th September 1869 and identifies children and granddaughter

4  Ditto the will of James Norfolk of Brackenthwaite, Rigton, a farmer. Will dated 6th April 1869 and identifies wife, children, grandchildren and others.

5  Ditto the will of Matilda Constantia Norfolk, a widow of Chapel Allerton, who died 17th January 1867 leaving her entire estate to John Stead, a shoemaker.

6  Ditto the will of John Fletcher Norfolk of Dover leaving his entire estate to his wife Sophia. Will dated 9th February 1865

7  A single foolscap sheet with handwritten lists by self showing entries of the name Norfolk taken from: Army births and baptisms 1866 – 1908; UK High Commissioner Births Index – a single entry in 1964; Army Returns Marriage Index - two entries for 1950 in Germany; Index to War Deaths (Other Ranks) fourteen entries for 1915 – 1917 (showing the Regiments served); ditto a single entry for one officer in 1916.

8  A hand drawn family tree by self showing five generations descended from Thomas Norfolk, a brewer of Deptford who died in 1887.

9  Certified copy from the Probate Registry of a six page will of John Norfolk of Tockwith identifying a large number of immediate family and other relations. Will dated 1863 plus a further codicil.

10 Ditto the will of Joseph Norfolk of Chapel Allerton identifying widow and nephew. Will dated 26th February 1850

11 Handwritten single sheet by self from Thoresby Society volume 14 of Leeds Grammar School Admissions with details of two Norfolk entries in 1842 and 1849

19 Double-sided handwritten sheet by self showing numerous Norfolk entries from the registers of St John’s Chapel of the Parish Church of Leeds. Includes monumental inscriptions with valuable relationship info. Period covered is 1762 – 1834. Collected from Thoresby Society Volumes 23 and 29.

20 Double-sided handwritten sheet listing those Yorkshire Parish Registers for which copies are held in the Guildhall Library, London. It includes catholic and non-conformist. I have marked the list to show those eleven which I have managed to search and have drawn a blank looking for Norfolks. Remaining registers still need to be searched.

21 Hand-drawn pedigree by self of the family of Nancy Yeadon (nee Norfolk) born 1926. Goes back three generations. This document is very feint and requires re-drawing before it disappears!

66 One lined A4 sheet with four Norfolk family notes dating from years 1401 – 1451. Copied from volumes published by “The Ancestor”, Surtees Society and Thoresby Society. Names mentioned are William, Matilda, Robarde and Richard.

67 Ditto another fourteenth century snippet of information about Robert Norfolk on an Inquisition Jury at Scarborough on 22nd July 1303.

68 Ditto further snippets of thirteenth century information on Robert Norfolk on Inquisition Juries at Scarborough in four separate years between 1281 and 1298. Also details of “James de Norff or Norff’ “   who worked land at Thornton Bridge near Cundall.

69 Sealed Probate Registry copy of the will of Joseph Norfolk of Copford Essex who died 1865. Six foolscap sheets clearly and beautifully handwritten with info on five children, brother William and others.

70 Handwritten letter dated 1982 to self from Mrs Susan Hawkins of Norwich. Supplying information on her York family of Norfolks including Thomas who was Sheriff of York in 1741/2. Three pages including her research going back to 1300’s.

71 Printout taken from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website of the circumstances of the death of Lance Corporal A Norfolk (19569) of the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment killed in action on Friday 24th November 1916 and buried in the Guards’ Cemetery on The Somme.

72 Ditto – the circumstances of the death of Sergeant Alan Bernard Norfolk (751127) 254 Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died on Monday 24th June 1940. The son of John Ive Norfolk of Northampton.

73 Two lined sheets (three sides) of handwritten notes copied from the registers of York Holy Trinity, Micklegate (one entry for marriage of Christo. Norfolk dated 1707) and also dozens of entries from York St Mary Bishophill Junior (years 1683 – 1790).

74 One A4 lined sheet copied from a volume published by the Harleian Society titled “Knights of Edward 1st : Hugh de Norfolk performs service of knight 1277 and also a description of the arms of Richard de Norfolk.

75 One double-sided lined A4 sheet with BMD entries copied from the registers of Pannal. 3 Marriages (1765 and 1766), 3 baptisms (1793 – 1804), and 7 burials (1854 – 1883). 

76 One A4 lined sheet with entries copied from the Harleian Society volumes: London Marriage Licences – two entries 1572 (John) and 1590 (William) (volume 25), Vicar General Licences – one entry 1661 for Ann daughter of Thomas (volume 33) and Sudbury Marriage Licences – five entries in period 1786 – 1814 (volume 71).

77 Four small lined sheets of writing paper containing many Norfolk entries copied from the registers at Pannal – baptisms and marriages only – for the period 1765 - 1883. Interestingly these sheets also details which register volumes have been checked but no Norfolks found, and also which volumes remain to be checked. This is a thorough piece of field work which appears to be in the handwriting of Mr Frank Bruce.

78 Two handwritten letters dated June 1974 from Frank Bruce to self concerning his search for Norfolk entries in the Pannal registers held at Sheepscar Library. They also contain unrelated info as he employed me to carry out some searches for him in London.

79 Hand drawn family tree assembled by self from evidence found in the BMD registers at Somerset House relating to Norfolks living in Nayland, Sudbury – four generations spanning Thomas born 1821 and William died 1945.

80 Typed letter from Lesley Norfolk to self dated 31st March 1980. Its interesting as it gives the background to the writing of the East Drayton booklet and also identifies RWS (Bill) Norfolk’s address and phone number.

81 Lined sheet giving details of two Norfolk wills from Mountsorrel, Leicestershire (John – 1776 and Benjamin – 1813). Source not quoted – sorry!

82 Arthur George Norfolk – a printout from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website of the entry at the Chatham Naval Memorial for his death during the First World War. Mentions parents Alice and William at Brightlinsea and also his widow Gertrude.

83 One A4 lined sheet listing one baptism and two burials (1673, 1674 and 1714) – the only entries found in the registers of Calverley Parish Church. Noted from the register copy kept by Mrs Elizabeth Jackson of 20 Aycliffe Drive, Grove Hill, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

84 One A4 lined sheet of four wills or administrations in the Archbishop’s Registers at York copied from Yorkshire Archaeological Society Volumes 60, 68, 89 and 93 held at the Guildhall Library, London. Dates between 1524 and 1686. Places mentioned are Stillingflete, Osendike, Ryder, Kingston upon Hull and Harthill.

85 One handwritten A4 lined sheet listing 19 baptisms (1668-1712) and 6 burials (1679-1739) recorded in the registers of the Parish of Adel. My notes were made from a copy of the Register held at the Guildhall Library, London.

87 Bilton in Ainsty; handwritten notes of baptisms and burials taken from a search of the registers between 1803 and 1842. These are almost all the “Tockwith” Norfolks. All listed on one lined foolscap sheet. Unfortunately I failed to record where I found the register copy (sorry!).

92 Benjamin Norfolk of Low Dunsforth, died 1870 – a sealed copy of his will from the Probate Registry together with my sketch of a family tree constructed from details contained in the will.

93 Two consecutive photocopies (source not known but probably from a manuscript in a library archive such as The Guildhall, London) referring to Martin de Norfolk (1257), Thomas de Norfolk (1309 and several later dates, including reference to parents Nicholas and Ellen and son John de Northfolk), Thomas Norfolk (1737 and later dates – also includes copies of monumental inscriptions for his family).

94 A letter from Cambridge City Central Library to me dated 1971 concerning my searches for Alexander and William of Jesus College (this should be attached to item number 59 on my earlier sixth list).

Four licences between 1637 and 1711 including my own link to the non conformist register at Coley in 1712. Copy in the Guildhall Library, London.

104 An (assumed) pedigree assembled by me from my notes taken from the Hunslet Chapel of the Parish Church of Leeds – dating from Samuel Norfolk who had eight (or more) children from 1793 onwards. Also an earlier pedigree for John Norfolk in the same parish in early 1700s.

105 Printout from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website of the memorial to Lieutenant Ernest James Norfolk of the Canadian Infantry who died aged 22 on 30th September 1918. His parents were Ernest and Louisa Norfolk of London.

106 John Norfolk of Wigginton (b 1799?) – a lined foolscap sheet with descendants over four generations to a marriage in 1961. Also the marriage and children of Nathaniel Norfolk of Pollington (approx 1860’s). Source not noted but believed to have been sent to self by a correspondent in the 1970’s.

107 Double-sided lined A4 sheet with handwritten notes copied by self from the registers of St Mary Bishophill Junior, York. Nineteen baptisms between 1694 and 1757. Eleven marriages between 1675 and 1796. Eleven burials between 1684 and 1756. All copied by self from the Yorks Parish Register Society Volume 52 held at Guildhall Library, London.

108 One lined A4 handwritten sheet of entries copied by self from the registers of Chapel Allerton. Two baptisms and one burial only (1770/1771). Copied by self from the Thoresby Society Volume 29. Also on the same sheet a single entry for marriage of Mary Norfolk at Guiseley 1715 ( I searched the registers for the period 1584 – 1720 only).

116 Printout from the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission        honouring Lance Corporal Archibald Norfolk who died on 9th October 1917 and commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial. He was lost without trace during the defence of the “Ypres Salient”. He was the son of Mrs Sarah Norfolk of Bramhope.

Families in West Ham (mother’s maiden name Samuel), N Bierley and Leeds South and Lower Agbrigg and Knaresbro’ (mother’s maiden name Carter), West Ham (again) (mother’s maiden name Myatt), Sculcoates (mother’s maiden name Tong). 

124. Ditto: Southwark (mother’s maiden name Broderick), Wharfedale (mother’s maiden name Whitaker), Chelmsford (mother’s maiden name Rollinson), Brentford and Staines (mother’s maiden name Hawker).

126. Printout from the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission honouring Private C.Norfolk who died on 19th May 1918 and commemorated on the Bouzincourt Communal Cemetery Extension on the Somme. He served in the 16th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Bouzincourt was a Field Ambulance Station so he may have been killed or wounded elsewhere. He was the son of Mr W Norfolk of Manor Park, London.

127. Printout from the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission honouring Private Benjamin Norfolk who died aged 27 on 7th May 1915 and commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Turkey. He served in the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment and was the son of Sarah and the late William Norfolk of Ipswich. His grave is unknown or he may have been lost or buried at sea in Gallipoli waters.

128. Printout from the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission honouring Charles Norfolk who died aged 28 on 3rd October 1940 at De Havilland’s aerodrome, Hatfield. Son of John and Hannah Norfolk of Easington Colliery and the husband of Doris Elizabeth Norfolk of Watford.

129. One lined foolscap sheet containing three Norfolk family trees deduced from the index of wills at the Principal Probate Registry: Robert Norfolk of Louth and Lincoln who died 1871, Joseph Norfolk of Chapel Allerton who died 1859 and Thomas Norfolk of Nayland who died 1887.

Drypool (Volume 125) John Norfolk buried 1782, Hooton Pagnell (Volume 87) Samuel Norfolk, vicar, buried 1692, Hickleton (Volume 109) a note that Samuel Norfolk was curate from 1684 until at least 1690, Acomb (Volume 129) John Norfolk buried 1727, Askham Bryan (Volume 131) six baptisms between 1689 and 1731, three marriages 1689 – 1724, and three burials 1689 – 1699.
